Meet Alice Watts, History Sleuth
Historian • Writer • Ghostwriter
I’ve always been drawn to the thrill of the chase — whether tracing medieval manuscripts or following the threads of a family’s past. History, to me, is never just a collection of facts. It’s evidence waiting to be interpreted and shaped into meaning.
Writing has followed me everywhere — from editing newsletters early in my career to translating complex federal retirement regulations into language everyday employees could easily understand. No matter the role, I was the person shaping dense material into something clear, structured, and readable.
Today, I bring that same instinct to family history.
I work behind the scenes with genealogists to shape documented research into narrative form — bringing ancestors to life in their place and time while preserving the integrity of the record.
My role is not to replace research, but to translate it.
With an MA in medieval art history, where my thesis on 12th-century manuscripts required extensive archival and historical research, and published works in American history, I approach every project with both rigor and dedication to the narrative craft. Strong research deserves strong storytelling.
Curiosity has always been my compass — from medieval art to American history to the lives hidden in family archives. I’m most at home where evidence meets story.
